A leading real estate and financial services asset management company needed assistance migrating their legacy on-premises data environment that had become difficult to manage. Some key parts of the legacy system relied on Microsoft Excel and a web application. Loading data was complex and manual, and a lack of data governance needed to be addressed. The client asked Imaginet to upgrade the application using a more modern development stack to clean up and standardize how data was loaded and processed.
Using Azure Data Factory as the primary method for data integration (ETL) processes, the Imaginet data engineering team moved the data environment into Microsoft Azure cloud services, with a data lake for storage. For the web application, we converted to Angular and a more up-to-date .NET Framework stack.
Imaginet utilized Azure DevOps to put all web and data code assets in source control and built pipelines to automate builds and releases to implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes. Releasing new functionality quickly and consistently ensured that the customer realized the business value early, with much higher quality and lower risk.
The client was providing a daily data feed to a third party to do risk processing. The updated data environment was much more accessible and accurate, improving the experience when working with external sources.
With Imaginet’s help, the client has a new standardized process for loading data. With a more modern platform and strategies around source control, Azure resource uses, CI/CD processes and releases, and data intelligence, they are better equipped for success and proper tracking. They can adequately assess the quality of their data and provide information to decision-makers to make better selections due to their upgraded development stack.
